1 year since diagnosis & MRI results

This week marked one year since Abby's diagnosis and first surgery!  It has been a crazy year and we have still not adjusted fully to our new normal.  We have had such tremendous support from everyone so thank you!  Also Tuesday was Abby's MRI and today we went back in to get the results.  Sadly the tumour continues to grow and develop new cysts.  Thankfully we are not seeing any symptoms develope such as facial numbness, hearing loss or vision changes, so they will continue to monitor with another MRI in 8-10 weeks.  If she becomes symptomatic then they will move up her MRI.   They want to put off surgery as long as possible and we continue to hope and pray that the radiation starts to work on the tumour before they need to intervene with surgery.

Abby continues to suffer from some fatigue and headaches.  She cannot seem to get a good night's sleep so they are referring her for a sleep study.  Hopefully they can find a way for her to get a full nights sleep.

Abby learned this week that she has been chosen to participate in the speech competition at her school.  She is talking about her diagnosis and treatment.  She is nervous but has been practicing lots and I know will do a great job.

We continue to have Abby come home from school early and we are doing distance learning for her afternoon courses.  She can't make it through a full day of school so this working well until she has enough energy to go for full days.

We also have had an addition to our family!  Nova, a 12 week old labradoodle joined our family at the beginning of the month.  He is very cute and sweet tempered and we hope to train him as a therapy dog for Abby.  We have a lot of work to do and he has to be at least 2 yrs old before he can be an official therapy dog but he has a good disposition for it and seems very smart.

We don't know exactly when Abby's next MRI will be but we will continue with our updates as things move along.
