A great week together as a family!
Well we just had such a great week! Jerry and the rest of the kids came down to visit us in Florida. It was so wonderful to be together as a family. We had lots of fun and Abby was feeling well most of the week!
Is really is true that times flies when you are having fun! Thanks to Compassion Partners and the UF Proton Center we were able to go to Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure as a family. They provided free tickets for Abby and her immediate family as well as getting a universal assist pass. This meant that Abby did not have to wait out in the heat for any rides or shows! (And either did we!) We rented her a wheelchair and she did great! Lasted the whole day and we all had such a blast! She did have a headache the morning of the second day but I think it was just from not drinking enough water. Once she had breakfast she was good to go again!
We had perfect weather and the week just flew by. We went to the ocean and Jerry and the other kids were able to visit the Kennedy Space Center. Jerry has always wanted to go there and could have spent the whole week there! Well at least 2 full days anyway! Lol
It was sad to say goodbye and send them home. Abby has 3 1/2 weeks of treatment left so it will just be her and I. Grandpa and Grandma are coming for a visit at the end of the month though so we won't be alone for long.
Abby's treatment should be done on September 15 which is a Friday then the next week they will run a few tests and we will be on our way home! We anticipate being back in Rocky sometime around Sept 20.
Each week they do an MRI to kept track of what the tumor is doing during treatment. Today we learned that her cysts have grown about 1mm since treatment began.
Growth of the cysts is very normal during treatment and they said at this point no changes to her treatment are needed. If they continue to grow they may need to adjust the size of the treatment area to be sure the cysts are within the radiation area. The more they grow the more headaches and negative side effects will be expected so we are praying that growth stays to a minimum!
Abby continues to have some headaches and is a little more tired than normal on some days. We have also noticed a reduction in her appetite over the last few days. She has lost some weight and the doctor has said at this point she can pretty much eat whatever she wants which made her very happy! She is not eating a whole lot so to keep her strength up she pretty much has free reign when she does eat. Of course Abby has been very conscious about what she is eating and continues to make good food choices with a few treats here and there.

That's great that all of your family is together!!
