What a day! July 26, 2017
We had a full day today with lots of new experiences! Abby had her audiology appt this morning and then we were free for the day! The hearing test was to establish a baseline before treatment begins. We met the cast of the musical Annie and they sang a few songs for us and Abby got her photo taken with them. They were visiting the Children's medical center where Abby had her test.
We took the kids to the ocean which was a first for both of them and hung out at the beach for a while. Abby had fun gathering sea shells.
We drove around Jacksonville and went exploring a little bit...found a chocolatier and bought some amazing sugar free chocolate and also found a popcorn store that sells all different flavours of popcorn. We must have sampled 10+ kinds before Abby chose her favorite.. Salt and Vinegar! We make this at home all the time so it's good to know that she can have her favorite anytime!
The UF Health van driver told us about a resturant called Clarks Fish Camp where you can see gators and manatees in the river plus they have all sorts of taxidermy animals all over the resturant. They serve gator tail, frog legs, conch, catfish, crab, bison oysters, hush puppies and lots of other uncommon foods so the kids had - chicken fingers! Jerry and I tried the sample platter that had gator tail, crab, frog legs, catfish, shrimp, scallops, oysters and hush puppies. Logan did try the gator tail and Abby said they had the best fries she has ever eaten!
Once we had done all that we were beat, and headed back to the Ronald McDonald House. Tomorrow we are looking after two kids from the UK while their parents go to see the doctor. Their son has the same type of tumour as Abby and he is finishing his treatment this week.
