Waiting!

This week we found out that we won't know where or when we are going for Abby's proton radiation treatment till after July 12.  That is when the funding committee meets to approve the funding.  We were told this is pretty much just a formality.  In 2013 (the latest published figures I could find)  11 patients from Alberta applied to go to the US for proton treatment and 11 were approved.  Previous years are similar with only 1 application in Alberta denied in 4 years.  Our oncology nurse tells us we should expect to be down there by July 24.  This means another month of waiting but it sounds like after that it will move quickly.  The wait may be good since we don't have passports yet (we have applied!) and it gives me time to figure out my leave from work.  Also Abby's brother is graduating the end of June and we would hate to miss that!

Other than the stress of waiting all is going well.  Abby is still struggling with her weight even with the drastic diet change but she is doing really well.  Abby says she is feeling OK about heading down for treatment.  She is a little worried and anxious but I think that describes how we are all feeling.

Just another huge thank you to everyone who donated to Abby's gofundme page and to Uncle Scott and Aunt Becky for starting it!
