Easter update

Easter weekend has proved to be quite exciting for Gabby!  Thursday we had to take Gabby in to get some testing done as she is still having pain in her abdomen.  We needed to get blood tests done for the endocrinologist to check her hormone levels and had to take her back into the local clinic to check out her abdomen.  Doctor says all looks well,  the pain may just be her shunt tubing but we really are not sure.  Going for blood tests is never fun and Abby has deep, hard to find veins which makes the experience that much more stressful for Gabby.  She is a very good patient and stays very still but Thursday they had to poke her three times and where concerned that she might faint as she went very pale after the second poke.  So once we were done at the hospital and clinic they sent us home.  Stress is not good for her cortisol levels so I have to watch her.

When we left the Stollery they asked if we have any questions and I didn't but as we go through day to day turns out I have lots!  This weekend Gabby's cousins came to visit and brought her a new bed!  She had been in a loft bed but it just is not feasible now.  They also bought her new bedding and lots of awesome decorations for her room!

Gabby also went swimming for the first time since her surgery and had lots of fun at the pool with her cousins!  She didn't have any pain and I think having lots of cousons to hang out with helps!  It has been quite a different Easter as our diet has changed quite a bit but no one complained about lack of chocolate and mini eggs (out loud anyway) bu inside we were all missing them!

Gabby loves school and hates to miss so she is going to school part time.  She usually makes it till about 2 o'clock and then calls to go home because she has pain.  She says she is not tired but then comes home and has a 40 min nap. We are hoping that this week she will be able to stay full days.

We were scheduled for an MRI on April 20 but they have changed it to May 19 so she can see the ophthalmologist on the same day and save us a trip.  June 1 is our first clinic when we will meet with all of our team and figure out what our next step will be.  The biggest question is whether they will do radiation treatment now or later.  We are looking forward to getting a plan and answering some of the many questions that we have come up with since leaving the hospital!
