Gabby's letter to her grade 5 class

Gabby wrote the following letter to her Grade 5 class

Dear 5k,
I have some bad news for you. I found out that I have a craniopharyngioma brain tumour. The doctors say other than the tumour I am heathly. This makes it easier for me to heal after my surgery. I am having surgery on Tuesday. This tumor is really rare only 1.4 people in a million get this type of tumor. This means I really am one in a million! The doctor calls this type of a tumour a booger instead of a creepy crawly because it does not spread throughout my body and that's good news! It has been in my head for a while, maybe even two or three years. Right now it is about the size of a kiwi which seems pretty big but they found it early!

I will not be at school for a while because I will have to recover from my surgery after Tuesday. We named my tumour Fred because when my mom said brain tumour she started to cry! She asked me what I wanted to name it and I said Fred. So we call it Fred in my head which is the name of the blog that we have started about me being at the hospital trying to get "Fred" out of my head! But we will not be taking all of Fred out because my surgeon wants to make sure that I come out of the surgery still like me!

If something goes wrong some of my personality could change so that is why they are taking it slow and leaving some of it in there. They may need to do more surgeries later. Now this sounds really scary but there is some good news too! Like I said I am healthy, they caught it early and it's a booger. There's even some exciting news! Since I am having brain surgery I get a wish through the make a wish foundation! This means I get to make a wish, it has to be a BIG wish! One of the kids slept in a castle in Scotland and someone else wished to drive the Disney cruise boat through the bahamas! I don't know what my wish is yet because everything I have thought of has been too small! What would your wish be? You could email me back at --------- .

We don't know how long we will be here. I could be home as soon as next weekend or we could be here a lot longer. It just depends on how my surgery goes and my recovery. I am getting lots of visitors and other than the tests it has been fun so far! They gave me toys and games, they have a piano here and I have my ukelele from home. Also, I am the boss, so they tell me. They said I can do anything I want, that is actually what they told me! You can look at my blog at fredinmyhead17.blogspot.com By the way I put "GABBY" on the blog because I did not want strangers to know my name!
From your friend,
  Gabby
P.S.
Mrs. K could you please email my mom when you start Wonder so
that I can read it at the same pace as the class? She says you can text her too at 4###-###-#### then you can just send her the pages you have read each day. Thank you! Also, do you think I could get a chrome book from school? Typing on my tablet is hard to do! My dad is home today and he could pick it up for me!
